Mouth Guard

Anyone who participates in a sport that carries a risk of a knock to the face should wear a mouthguard.

Why wear a mouthguard?

A properly fitted mouthguard helps absorb the shock experienced by a blow to the face that may prevent an injury to the mouth or jaw. A heavy collision without wearing a mouthguard can possibly result in:

  • Chipped or broken teeth,
  • Internal damage to a tooth,
  • Tooth loss, injuries to the soft tissue of the mouth
  • In severe cases, concussion or a broken jaw.
  • In some cases, Injuries such as these can lead to long and potentially costly medical/dental treatment to restore back the normal function and appearance of the teeth and jaw.

Sports like basketball, water polo, lacrosse, netball, baseball softball, squash, BMX riding, soccer, skateboarding, cricket, inline skating, snow ski racing, water skiing are the sports that require wearing a customized mouth guard.

Dr. Labalan recommends custom-fitted mouthguards as they offer the best protection than over the counter ones.
