What does Chid Dental Benefit Scheme Cover?

*The Child Dental Benefit Scheme covers a range of general dental services, including: 

  • Check-ups
  • X-rays
  • Cleaning
  • Fissure Sealing
  • Fillings
  • Root canals
  • Extractions.

*However, there are some restrcitions for basic dental services. The services that are not covered by CDBS are the following:

  • Orthodontic dental work
  • Cosmetic dental work
  • Any dental services in a hospital.

 

If your child if elegible and has received a letter from Medicare entitling this benefit, please bring the letter along to the appointment and we will be able to provide dental treatment under the Benefit Scheme for them.

WHAT is CDBS?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is an Australian Government program that provides access to up to $1,095 in benefits over two consecutive calendar years covering part or the full cost of basic general dental services.

WHO is entitled to CDBS?

  • CDBS is available for a child who is eligible for Medicare.
  • Children between 2 and 17 years old  are eligible for CDBS.
  • The family of the child  must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
